Caregiver Support Worker Foundations

This Program is not equivalent to, nor recognized as, a BC Health Care Assistant Program. Graduates are not eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry. Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry is required before working in BC's public health sector as a care aide, health care assistant, personal support worker, community health worker or an equivalent position.
This program is ideal for individuals exploring a career as a Caregiver Support Worker, those currently working in the field without formal training, or anyone preparing for advanced studies in caregiving. It provides a strong foundation in essential knowledge and skills, focusing on the roles and responsibilities of caregivers while addressing important legal, ethical, and practical considerations. Students will gain an understanding of how to support clients affected by age, disability, illness, or injury in various care settings, including home care. The program also covers client demographics, care needs, and key practices to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective care delivery.
